Destination Spotlight: Berlin, Germany

Berlin is a bustling city in the heart of Germany, combining a glamourous yet bold hospitality scene. The city offers an array of museums and galleries, opera and underground clubs, Michelin restaurants and worldly cuisines.

When it comes to edgy fashion, art, design and music, this German capital is the place to be. It is Berlin’s legendary climate of inclusiveness and experimentation that gives this ‘eternally unfinished’ city its street credibility.

The luxury hotel scene in Berlin gives business events a leap into the high-end accommodation and experiences available. The Ritz-Carlton, AMANO Berlin and Hotel Zoo amongst our favourites Berlin has to offer. The city has a rich city and impressive cultural heritage, from graffiti covered remnants of the Belin wall, to Hitler’s bunker and the new Jewish synagogue centre.

Expect diners overfilling buzzing restaurants, offering traditional German food, and world-renowned nightclubs to dance away in until the early hours of the morning.

Tourism Ireland welcomes MICE business travel buyers from Germany

Eight German MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences and events) buyers – all specialists in organising international meetings and incentive travel programmes – have been visiting Ireland, as guests of Tourism Ireland, Fáilte Ireland and Wallace Travel Group (destination management company).

The aim of the visit was to showcase Ireland to the influential German buyers, to inspire them to choose the island of Ireland for future meetings and incentive travel and to grow Business Events from Germany. Their busy itinerary included Hidden Howth Experiences, a walking tour of Kilkenny city, an Irish coffee experience in Kyteler’s Inn and fat biking in the Wicklow Mountains. They also enjoyed visits to O Brother Brewing, The Book of Kells Experience and Guinness Storehouse.

Tourism Ireland’s message for the German buyers is that the island of Ireland offers a winning combination of world-class infrastructure, unique and luxurious accommodation, state-of-the-art venues, spectacular landscapes, the warmest of welcomes and fantastic hospitality – making it an ideal destination for meetings, incentive travel and events of all sizes.

Siobhan McManamy, Tourism Ireland’s Director of Markets, said:“We were delighted to welcome these influential German business travel buyers to Ireland. Seeing is definitely believing and this visit was a valuable opportunity to highlight Ireland as a premier destination for Business Events.

“Business travel is high value and often midweek and off season by its nature, thereby aligning with Tourism Ireland’s strategy to grow overseas tourism revenue outside of the peak summer season.”

5 Essential Traits of a Great Vendor Partner

Events are a team sport, and building a robust network of reliable vendors—from florists and photographers to caterers and audiovisual experts—could not be more crucial. And while the needs of each event vary, there are certain qualities that Sequence Events believe consistently make some vendors and venues stand out to us as excellent partners.

Here are some things Sequence Events look for when choosing vendors, and why these factors encourage them to build long-lasting working relationships.

1. Industry and Event-Specific Knowledge

Events come in all shapes and sizes, and what works for a social gathering won’t necessarily cut it for a corporate conference or a nonprofit gala. Different industries, like financial or pharma, also have their own unique quirks and needs. Sequence Events appreciate vendors who understand this and bring the right know-how to the table. It’s all about knowing the lay of the land, which helps us nail the specifics of each event without missing a beat.

2. Communication Skills

Effective communication is the backbone of any successful relationship. Sequence Events treasure vendors who not only communicate clearly and proactively, but also respond swiftly and stick to scheduled meetings (and price quotes!). This kind of open communication builds trust and keeps everything running smoothly.

3. Time Management Skills—and Flexibility!

Event planning can be unpredictable, and Sequence Events often need to make last-minute changes—whether it’s due to what a client wants or something unexpected popping up. That’s why it’s super important for vendors to be on top of their game when it comes to organization and managing their time.

Going hand in hand with that, of course, is the need for creativity and flexibility! This kind of creativity and flexibility are key to tailoring events that truly stand out and capture exactly what our clients are imagining.

4. A Proven Track Record

Reliability is everything, and Sequence Events love to work with vendors they know personally or those who come with glowing recommendations from people they trust. If that’s not an option, it’s crucial that vendors can show off some solid testimonials or let them chat directly with their previous clients. These kinds of endorsements really help them feel good about their ability to consistently deliver top-notch services.

5. Mutual Respect

We’re all human beings working in a stressful industry—and mutual respect is the bedrock of any great partnership. Sequence Events aim to be as helpful and flexible with vendors as they hope they’ll be with them. Getting on the same page not only makes the planning process smoother, but also creates a space where everyone can be creative and adaptable.

NYC MICE Events: Your Guide to Navigating Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions

NYC MICE Events: Your Guide to Navigating Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions

The MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) industry in New York City is a major pillar of its tourism and business ecosystem. As a global hub for finance, media, and technology, NYC attracts millions of corporate delegates annually, generating billions in spending and supporting hotels, venues, and local services. Large convention centers, luxury hotels, and strong transport connectivity make the city highly competitive for international events. The industry also benefits from continued demand for business travel and the rise of hybrid events, which combine in-person and digital participation to expand reach and flexibility.

Smithsfields has established itself as a leading digital platform for the MICE industry in North America by combining content, connectivity, and technology into a single ecosystem tailored for event professionals. The Smithsfields platform integrates a global supplier directory, destination insights, and industry news, allowing planners, venues, and service providers to connect directly and efficiently.

What is MICE?

MICE stands for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions. And it’s a big deal for New York City’s economy. This guide is your go-to resource for understanding the NYC MICE events scene. We’ll explore key areas, top places, helpful resources, and plans to boost your involvement or event planning.

The MICE industry in NYC is a powerhouse. It’s always growing with impressive economic figures. Events draw professionals from all over the globe and NYC a prime spot for business and networking. Overall, in a city like NYC, corporate events are not just operational gatherings but strategic investments that drive collaboration, innovation, and measurable business outcomes.

NYC MICE Industry

NYC’s MICE industry includes different areas. These include corporate meetings, trade shows, incentive travel, and huge conventions. Past events show how diverse the NYC MICE scene is.

Consider the annual Event Planner Expo, drawing event industry experts, or hundreds of networkers and incentives that take place across New York.

The Event Planner Expo is one of the most influential gatherings in New York City’s MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) landscape. Held annually, it brings together over 2,000–2,500 event professionals, corporate decision-makers, and suppliers for three days of networking, education, and business development.

Its impact on NYC’s MICE industry is significant. The Expo acts as a central hub where trends are introduced, partnerships are formed, and major deals are initiated, often shaping the direction of the industry for the year ahead. By connecting venues, brands, and planners in one space, it accelerates collaboration and drives revenue across hospitality, production, and corporate events sectors.

Economic Impact of MICE events

MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) events play a powerful role in driving economic growth at both local and global levels. When large-scale events are hosted in cities like New York City, they generate immediate revenue through delegate spending on hotels, restaurants, transportation, and entertainment. This influx supports thousands of jobs across hospitality, tourism, and event production sectors, creating a ripple effect that benefits small and large businesses alike.

Beyond direct spending, MICE events attract international visitors, boosting a destination’s global visibility and long-term tourism appeal. Conferences and exhibitions often lead to future investments, partnerships, and business expansion, particularly in industries like technology, finance, and healthcare. Cities that consistently host successful events strengthen their reputation as global business hubs, which can lead to increased foreign direct investment.

MICE events also contribute to knowledge exchange and innovation. By bringing together industry leaders, they foster collaboration, idea-sharing, and skill development, which can improve productivity and competitiveness in the wider economy.
